It was another busy week in Washington. The House of Representatives
passed a bill addressing Americas transportation system and crumbling
infrastructure. While the world is still coping with the brutal terrorist
attacks in Paris, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs held a hearing about
policy recommendations for defeating ISIS. Additionally, I was accompanied by a
friendly face from PA-4 as I chaired a House Homeland Security Subcommittee
hearing on mismanagement of resources.
FAST Act
This week we passed a long-term, fully-funded
transportation bill that included my amendments to make our roads safer and
protect jobs. To read my full statement, click here: http://1.usa.gov/1HJ7SPL
ISIS Hearing
The recent attack in Paris opened the worlds eyes
to the extent of the threat of ISIS. I took part in a House Foreign Affairs
Committee hearing examining ISIS shifting strategy and heard new
recommendations from national security experts to defeat this enemy.
Homeland Security Hearing
On Thursday, I chaired a House Homeland Security Subcommittee
hearing demanding answers for mismanagement in the Federal Protective
Service; it wasnt all bad news, though. Riley Cagle, a Senior at Northeastern
High School and an aspiring legislator, spent part of the day with me.
